While many people are against the Trump travel ban, my opinion remains fairly neutral. Prior to becoming President of the United States, President Trump's net worth was through the roof because of his business career. I mention this because he did not need to become President of the United States in order to boost his résumé. I believe he does have the country's best interests in mind. Does he come across as unprofessional at times based on some of the things he says? Yes. However, I do believe he is a proud United States citizen that wants to restore the United States' power in the world. According to people that have much more insight than we do in terms of government affairs, the countries that made this list are on it because of their inability or lack of cooperation when it comes to providing OUR government with the information it is asking for. For example, Sudan was removed from the travel ban issued at the beginning of the year because it cooperated with our government on the topics of national security and information-sharing.

President Trump made an executive decision to ban travelers from certain countries for a reason. He is quoted by saying, "As president, I must at to protect the security and interest of the United States and its people." With him saying this, it shows how e does have the best interest for this country and is not doing this travel ban "for the fun of it" or because he is prejudiced against Muslims. President Trump has full interest in in protecting the U.S. as much as he can, and this is what people don't understand. A lot of people are calling the ban that is still in effect a Muslim ban, which can be assumed because the countries that are banned are, in fact, mostly populated by Muslims. That can now not be the case for the newly imposed travel ban with the inclusion of Venezuela and North Korea, because neither of those country's people primarily study the Muslim religion. President Trump may take things a little far in his wording of topics, especially in his use of twitter, but he does have the best intentions for America and wants to see it not be in the decline that it has been in the for the past few years. My question is did he go about implementing the travel ban in an appropriate manner?

@wilson I see where you are coming from about the countries being mostly Muslim, but the countries on the list are to stop travel to our country, not the immigration. This is to protect America from the possible terror attacks that many foreign countries had to endure. And honestly, in the long run, this travel ban is only in effect for a small amount of time, because when you say immigration, I take that as becoming a U.S. citizen, and in that process, you have to have a residency in the country for at least 5 years and be in the country for 30 months out of those 5 years. I just wanted to clear up that it is a travel ban, not an immigration ban.

@shaffer I completely agree with you, how President Trump is doing the right thing by implementing the travel ban. I don't think he added the new countries on just to let the first travel ban countries feel better, though. I think he put North Korea on there because of the problems we are having with them at the moment with all of the threats that the U.S. has received by them. As fro Venezuela, I'm not too sure of everything that is happening with them except from the little we talked about them in class, I think it is mainly because they are in a really unstable time in their country. And Chad, maybe it's just because it is over by the other travel ban countries, but I don't really know, they aren't mentioned much on the news, or anywhere really.

@dudich his original post: I agree that Chad is a country that has almost no reason for being on the ban list. I just find it interesting that the Trump administration would give a clear reason why Chad is on the list and how even the Chad's government is puzzled as to why their on the list. I also find it interesting how the Trump administration did not give a clear answer. For every country he does this to he should at least give a explanation as to why he does it.

Trump’s travel ban is a necessary action to promote the welfare of citizens and uphold our national security as a country. These travel bans were put in place to protect our nation from wartime countries and their corrupt leaders, protect the United States from terrorism, and to make a statement to the rest of the world. These bans were not put in place to discriminate against a group of people. The U.S. has been at war against many of these countries, like Iran, Libya, and Syria, or has seen corruption in their leaders. The leaders North Korea and Venezuela, two of the new countries added to the ban, have shown countless signs of aggression, radicalism, and corruption. It has nothing to do with race, religion, or any kind of unjustified discrimination. This ban is necessary. Countries that have not yet applied any time of ban are already feeling the effects. These radical terrorist efforts in London, Brussels, and Paris have already killed or injured many innocent citizens. The U.S. does not need this happening in our home country. This ban is not to discriminate against a religious group. It is to protect our citizens from these radical corrupt nations that continuously show no attempt to make peace with the United States. I completely agree with your statement, how every considering what Trump said while running for election, is it possible that one of the reasons these bans are in the middle east is because of Muslims?

President Donald trump's newly signed travel ban is a necessary action to keep our country as safe as possible. Even though this is meant to keep the U.S. safe many people say that this ban was to target Muslims and label it as discrimination; which is not the case at all. Not all the countries on the list are Muslim countries which shows that this wasn’t put in place to target only Muslims. President Trump is quoted as saying “As president, I must act to protect the security and interests of the United States and its people”, and I totally agree that that is what he is doing with this travel ban. Two of the countries, Venezuela and North Korea, have had a bunch of problems and unrest with their government with being corrupt which shows why they should be on the ban; especially North Korea with them being anti U.S. and basically wanting to wipe us off the map. Through these two countries being on the ban list shows that’s its not only about Muslims and discrimination. This ban is especially important now that more and more terror attacks are happening like what just happened in London and we can’t be the next country to be affected. Even though there are good people in all of these countries we don’t know who is good or bad so the ban is a necessary action to keep our country safe.

President Trump has announced that he will be adding three more countries to his already existing travel ban list. The countries added are North Korea, Venezuela, and Chad. The countries that are already existed on the list include Yemen, Iran, Syria, Libya, and Somalia. His statement regarding this decision was “As president, I must act to protect the security and interests of the United States and its people.” Although many people opposing this new travel ban will say it is strictly a "Muslim ban", that is just not the true intent. All of these countries pose some sort of threat to the country or as seen as dangerous to some extent. In the United States as well as many other countries around the world, there seems to have been an increase in terrorist attacks at an alarming rate. Why as an American citizen would you not want to cover all your bases in hopes to cut the risk of another attack and potentially saving so many American lives? Would it not be better to be safe than sorry? This ban is not supposed to be in anyway some sort of a prejudice stand against Muslims or anyone from any different race or religious background. It is intended purely for the safety of our country and our citizens. If a certain country does not seem to pose a threat on America any longer, they can be taken off just like Sudan. Sudan was originally on the travel ban as well, but has recently been cleared and taken off the list. However, the countries currently on the list were not chosen at random. They were chosen because they pose to us specifically or have been known to pose a threat to other countries, with the exception of Chad which many are still unclear with that decision. Overall, the decision of the US travel ban is meant to provide more safety and protection above all else.
Do you think the travel ban will truly provide more safety? What is your stance on this decision?

@gilbert This ban will protect us and be effective. For example, if isis would want to do an attack like Osama Bin Laden did they would nit be able to because they couldn't get in the country.

@malinski responding to @shaffer, According to the NPR Chad could even be on the banned list because of oil. Chad accused Exxon and Mobile of not meeting there tax obligations and Chad sought a $74 billion fine. The reason in the executive order though stated "Chad does not adequately share public safety and terrorism-related information".

On Sunday Trump announced a new travel ban adding three more countries to the list. The three new countries added to the list are Venezuela, Chad, and North Korea. The ban on all these countries is focusing on muslim countries, but Trump says he is not in any way trying to target them. People are beginning to be confused and scared to why the country Chad is on the list. Sudan was taken off of the list, because of their corporattion with the U.S. government. Trump stated “As president, I must act to protect the security and interests of the United States and its people...” Trump is not banning these states as anything more than protecting our country, it may not seem like it but he is doing everything to protect us, but everyone needs to be treated equal and anyone who wants to come to our country should be allowed. Is the ban necessary or just causing issues? Will the ban protect our country in any way? The ban will protect against countries that are seen as a threat so it will definitely decrease a lot of risk for potential attack and increase the safety of the citizens.

@davis All of the bans are reasonable because they pose huge threats on America especially North Korea who one of the largest threat we currently have. We need to protect ourselves against these countries so it is a good idea to be safe. The only unreasonable country is Chad because no one is really sure why they are even on there.
