I understand that the travel ban was intended to prevent (mainly) Muslims from entering our country as Trump has said he wanted. Although I agree and I think it's a good idea, I feel some of the countries on the list do not pose any sort of threat to America. Of course, not all of the countries are banned specifically for their culture but for their relation with America. That does not seem very fair to me because they should not be banned from immigrating to America just because the relation between leaders is not the best. Trump means well but in the long run, no one is sure how well this will work out for American citizens and the citizens of other countries. Many people do not use immigration in a bad way for things such as terrorism, most use it for jobs or leaving their own countries that might not be so well off to make better lives for themselves.
How many more countries do you think will be added to the list? Is there a possibility that these countries or other countries could ban the U.S. from entering their countries?

The new travel ban Trump announced on Sunday will add three more countries to the previous list and even take one away. Due to a recent review of Sudan's cooperation with the U.S government, it was able to be taken off the ban list. Now the banned countries include Yemen, Iran, Syria, Libya, Somalia, North Korea, Venezuela, and Chad. Even experts are still trying to decipher why exactly Chad is on this list, and citizens of Chad themselves are confused and worried. The original ban was solely on "muslim" countries, even though Trump claims this is not the case. Administration denies these bans were placed against anything but the governments of other countries, since they are not compliant with ours, but adding more countries is not going to fix the bigger issues. Arguments for whether or not the ban is legal have been set by the Supreme Court for October 10th. Trump believes the overall goal of this ban is to keep our country safe, and all countries have various reasons to be on the list, and until further notice it will stay this way. Are the travel bans necessary? Do they serve a great enough purpose to make an impact on the safety of America ? I really believe that the bans are not necessary for certain countries. I feel like they will keep America safe but it's not going to have a big enough impact for people to notice. It's just going to blow up because people are going to disagree or agree and it is going to make the country even more divided. Banning certain countries can not prevent ALL the bad that is happening in America because most of it is us threatening the safety of ourselves by violating laws.

@shaffer
I feel as if as time goes on, more countries are bound to be added to the list whether Trump has reason or not.

Trump’s travel ban is a necessary action to promote the welfare of citizens and uphold our national security as a country. These travel bans were put in place to protect our nation from wartime countries and their corrupt leaders, protect the United States from terrorism, and to make a statement to the rest of the world. These bans were not put in place to discriminate against a group of people. The U.S. has been at war against many of these countries, like Iran, Libya, and Syria, or has seen corruption in their leaders. The leaders North Korea and Venezuela, two of the new countries added to the ban, have shown countless signs of aggression, radicalism, and corruption. It has nothing to do with race, religion, or any kind of unjustified discrimination. This ban is necessary. Countries that have not yet applied any time of ban are already feeling the effects. These radical terrorist efforts in London, Brussels, and Paris have already killed or injured many innocent citizens. The U.S. does not need this happening in our home country. This ban is not to discriminate against a religious group. It is to protect our citizens from these radical corrupt nations that continuously show no attempt to make peace with the United States.

In this article it talks about various different points on the travel ban. This obviously includes president Trumps opinion in this matter. Trump believes that all illegal immigrants and especially people with Muslim culture should not be aloud to enter this country in order to keep it safe. Although Trump might believe that all Muslims are terrorist not everyone is bad. I believe that anybody who has ill intentions against our country should not be allowed into the country and should also be kicked out if they are in the country. With that being said not everybody has ill intentions so why should we cut off travel to the people who don't deserve it. This alone could cause many people to be angered about this when they previously didn't have a problem with the US.
Is it necessary to have a travel ban and should trump have gone to the extent that he did, or did he not do enough?

The Trump administration created a ban on travel from countries that were seen as a threat to the safety of the U.S. citizens. Many see the travel ban as a discriminatory act against Muslims and or a completely unnecessary action made by irrational people, but Restrictions on the travel of people from other countries is a necessity to keep the American people safe. Countries in Europe and near Europe that have taken in a massive amount of refuges from the middle east have been paying for it with increased crime and terrorist attacks. America should not allow a mass of immigrants and instead should protect itself from threats and restrict who can come into the country. The ban is based on good intentions but the trump admiration made choices and presented their final decision in a manner that does not sit well with the public and produces outrage and resistance. The travel ban should be revised as to not block non-threats and to allow travel but still restrict it in a reasonable way to ensure the safety of the American people. Would you implement travel restrictions on other countries? How effective are the restrictions put up by the trump administration? I completely agree. The Trump administration is doing a good thing by implementing the ban. They are protecting the U.S. from obvious threats that have proven to cause issues. On the other hand, the Trump administration did present their final decision in an inefficient manner. It is causing an outrage across the nation due to the word choice, persona, and personality of the administration and Trump himself.

I agree with President Trump creating the travel ban that has potential to hurt US citizens, directly of indirectly. Most citizens are saying this is an irrational move by Trump, calling it discriminating, as well as not needed. I disagree with those statements, because some of those countries deserve that ban. Just take a look North Korea. If any country deserved a ban earlier, it's this one. Their leader is doing very dangerous missile tests, that could be aimed at us. If we have certain people into our country leaking information back to North Korea, this could create a tremendous disaster for us, and the rest of the world, to an extent. Creating this travel ban is not an irrational thing, it is more like the best decision to do. As stated by President Trump, “As president, I must act to protect the security and interests of the United States and its people.”, he is simply doing just that. Making sure we are safe, and make sure we can have a bright future. I agree with all of these countries on the ban. Some of them could pose terroristic threats, some of them could try to corrupt our government, and some could be a downfall to our economy. I am not saying to add more countries, but the ones on now are a good choice by President Trump. Cole Helzlsouer- I believe that this is a good thing in the sense that he wants to keep terrorist out of the country but is that fair to the other people who are innocent

@hinchberger How then should the ban be "reconstructed"? Should it be made more clear? Or should it be to add or remove certain countries on the list?

The new travel ban on mainly Muslim countries is meant to help the United States and safely protect this country from possible threats. President Trump has said that the reason for the new countries included in the travel ban is because "Making American safe again is my number one priority". The Trump Administration has also stated the the reason for the travel ban is based on security issues and not directed toward Muslims. They stated that the real purpose of the new travel ban is to target weak and failing governments. So that leaves the question, why is Chad on the travel ban list? Many Americans believe that the travel ban is directed squarely at Muslims, but is it really? If the travel ban was directed at Muslims why would Chad be on the list? They are not mainly Muslim and the country's officials have stated they have done the most possible to fight against acts of terrorism.
Do you believe that the Trump Administration's reasoning for the travel ban is true and just or is it just a cover up and the real reason is because of the threat of Muslims despite the fact that Chad is on the travel ban list?

@cole Helzlsouer
Many people traveling from these countries may not have ill intentions, however you can't look at a person and tell if they may or may not have ill intentions. If you get background checks on all of them then that would cost too much as well as not give you all the needed information. Terrorist groups are able to get non-terrorists to conform to their ways so even if the travelers aren't known terrorists, then they would pass the background check and still be allowed into our country. The easiest and best way to stop terrorism is to stop all possible threats and to ban travel from everyone within the threatening countries.

@l. Pierce
I agree with most countries on the travel ban list, however if it is strictly for terroristic purposes, why is Chad on the list? Does that mean that there are more reasons for this list other than just terrorism? Is Trump doing the right thing putting Chad on the travel ban list?

The travel Ban created by Trump was an action that many people disagree on. This travel ban stopped immigrants from certain countries to enter the United States. Just recently Trump added more countries to the list. The United States is working with these countries to gather more background information on immigrants, for example, Sudan was recently taken off the ban as stated in the Washington Post article. They reportedly cooperated with the U.S. government and the NSA. This security measure taken by the Trump Administration is very necessary to the citizens of the US and possibly stopping many terrorist attacks in the US borders. Until the U.S. develops a better system to analyze immigrants the ban should remain in place.
Should more countries be added to the Ban? What other factors other than terrorism, may have prompted the ban?

This ban is not just a Muslim ban. President trump also added other countries that are non-Muslim countries, for example, North Korea. This ban is to ensure the safety of our citizens and is made based upon the potential for attacks or other negative things that could happen on U.S. soil.
