@maya Borland You’re observation saying that he is a “scared man” is very interesting. That’s a very different way to put it but that is certainly one way this situation could be interpreted. He could be just a man worried about losing his power so much that he decided he needed control everything and stay in power for as long as possible. I mean, for all we know, Kim Jong Un’s grandfather could have started out as a scared man and slowly morphed into a complete dictator through time.

@barbie I agree with you that Xi Jinping's plan to rid China of the two five year terms is disgraceful. The one problem that i mainly see with it is that the president of China is the leader in every other branch in their government. With the combination of no term limit give him ultimate power. It is exactly similar with North Korea, except he cant hand it down to an heir. I'd assume that after president Xi would step down that they would just elect a new president.

@cole, in regards to your quote "If him and another country are close and have a strong trade relationship, then China will benefit from having that trading partner for longer, but if it is a bad relationship to start, it will only make things worse in the country" I believe that in saying this you are being far too broad by generalizing trade relationships as simply good and bad relationships. Many countries have trade relationships with China (not just the leader) and many of those countries rely heavily on the exports of the Chinese trade. Even if there is now an Emperor status present in China I do not see it having any effect on the trade.

@makayla, you stated your opinion, "I think it would just be one person being president until they step down or die and then the next one being elected, so on and so forth." And I simply can not agree with you. Most people will take power and run with it if given the chance. Here, Xi is able to give himself the ultimate, unchallenged power. Other people will see this and lust after such unmatched status. This is likely going to be the first in a chain of events in which China slowly falls back into a governmental system in which the citizens have very little jurisdiction. In changing the constitution, Xi is paving the way for others to take advantage of China for their own self achievement.

@mayab I do not think it is possible to look like like North Korea. The population of China has already been exposed to the modern world and china will never be able to do what North Korea does to theirs. Also, the population of china is too big to be able to go into full isolation like North Korea.

@maddy I agree with the fact that China is making a huge mistake by leaving it to one man to lead a country that large. I dont thin China knows what its getting itself into, they could possibly be leading themselves down a road that might not be fixable
