brooke, personally, i believe that it is fine that facebook monitored user trends. Its not like they hacked into personal information, but they are simply making their platform more user friendly by showing the users ads. It is the equivalent of a parent monitoring your search history. It is not a huge deal because if people are influenced by ads on facebook on who to vote for, then they probably are not very involved in politics. @olivia i believe that companies like Cambridge Analytica are fair game. They make ads and ads are supposed to influence people. If candidates want to hire them to distribute propaganda, then they should be allowed to do so.

@matt I feel as though these companies should be outlawed due to they simply are influencing campaigns and elections, as well as the leakage of individual's personal information. However, just because you make a rule does not mean that it will be followed.

@olivia I love how you brought into play the idea that many people do not know they are actually giving consent. I myself, have clicked the button allowing my consent and did not think that my personal information would be leaked. People should carefully think through their decisions more, myself included

@mayab Personally, i would be severely angered. the fact of the matter is that your personally data was released to a random person who can do whatever they want with it.

@rick who was brookeI disagree with the fact that you had said that it was okay for Facebook to moniter your trends. if they do this they can make your viewpoints sway to the way they want them to.
