@shumaker Agreed, neither Trump nor the corporation did anything wrong by using the system that was already in place.

@autumn all great points, anything and everything that makes its way onto the internet is not private. sometimes even the moment you start typing is free information that anyone can grab.

@derek no they aren't really wrong because i completely agree with the fact that the internet is a worldwide thing and everyone can use it so that's why you have to be careful what you put on it.
@chase like i said about Derek's question i don't think they are doing anything wrong but i don't think they are even really searching that hard because whatever people put on the internet is and always will be on the internet.

@chase Great response Chase! I totally agree. The ads that pop up related to our interests catch our eye for a second, but I don't understand how there is so much concern with this issue because if people don't want their information being used then maybe they should't put it out there in the first place.
@sarah Great points Sarah! I think the Trump administration was justified in trying to sway votes. Technology is such a huge part of people's lives, and they were just taking the opportunity to use technology in a different way and it gives them easy access to what they are looking for.

@autumn Technology seems to be must for most people's lives in this modern age so using media platforms to persuade people in elections was a matter of time. Using these media platforms to advertise electoral candidates and sway elections is a "smart" idea for this day and age of technology so it can be a source of persuasion.
@sarah The use of technology to advertise elections is only just a new step for these types of elections. Using social media platforms for swaying votes is not only justified but also a smart step. Trump using it for his election was a good choice for campaigning.

@nick Facebook is not at fault by any stretch. If they were giving out information such as credit cards or SSNs it would be much worse. This is public knowledge, not personal information.

@derek I completely agree with you on the subject of keeping social media social and not a business scheme to gain information, the company was in the wrong for their attempts to gather and sell out info.
@wolinksi you make a good point . The companies may be ahead of their times with their ideas of digging into an untapped market of gathering information , its a good point of view to think about .
